On January 26-27, 2023, the plenary session of the 8th session of the Hungarian-Kazakh Economic Cooperation Intergovernmental Committee (KKB) was held in Budapest.

The head of the high-level Kazakh delegation was Mr. Alibek KUANTYROV, Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who was accompanied, among others, by Deputy Minister Mr. Zhandos NURMAGANBETOV from Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Minister Mr. Alibek KUANTYROV, in addition to the Minister Mr. Mihaly VARGA and Minister Mr. Péter SZIJJARTO, also had a meeting with the Gabor SAGI, Globalia Kft.’s director.

At the meeting, the parties discussed primarily the green energy development projects started by Globália Kft (solarpark development in city Shymkent and Turkestan and four village electrification in Atyrau region project using renewable energy). In addition, the Minister Mr. Alibek KUANTYROV was informed about the status of Globália Kft.’s other projects in Kazakhstan (IT development, business activity in the field of healthcare, etc.).

The Minister Mr. KUANTYROV emphasized that Kazakhstan has set ambitious goals for the transition to green energy, with the fact that in 2016 the Republic of Kazakhstan was one of the first in the world to ratify the Paris Convention. In the framework of the implementation of the Agreement, Kazakhstan intends to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 15% by 2030 and, according to plans, during this time the share of renewable energy sources is to be increased from the current 4% to 15%.

Minister Mr. KUANTYROV also mentioned that the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan pays a lot of attention to creating a favorable investment climate and increasing foreign investments. In this regard. Minister Mr. KUANTYROV emphasized that the Hungarian company’s proposals for the development of green technology will be supported.
